Topper the cat rests while recovering from injuries sustained during the Gatlinburg wildfires. Topper was treated by the UT College of Veterinary Medicine and released back to his owner, Katrina Cannon, who otherwise lost everything in the fire.

Rocky Recovery for Topper

During the ferocious fires that ravaged the mountains in November, the Sevier County Humane Society triaged injured animals, including a burned orange tabby cat, at the fairgrounds with the help of the local veterinary community.

University of Tennessee Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries student Emily Hockman launches a weather balloon equipped with an aerial acoustic recording system. The system was used to listen for the calls of at-risk avian species on DoD facilities.
