Throughout the University of Tennessee System, we’re working to make wellness a way of life—not just on our campuses but also for the communities across our state.
Wellness isn’t just about physical or mental health. It’s about having what you need to live well—food, care, purpose, connection and security. Across the UT System, our campuses and institutes are finding ways to support all of these.
We’re bringing essential health care to rural communities through UT Chattanooga’s MobileMOC program and expanding audiology and speech pathology services in East Tennessee through a partnership between UT Knoxville and the UT Health Science Center. Together, these programs improve access to care, as well as prepare the next generation of health care professionals who will keep Tennesseans healthy for years to come.
Our UT Extension consumer sciences experts strengthen the often-overlooked area of financial wellness, while the UT Institute for Public Service keeps communities safe by training landfill managers to handle environmental challenges.
Wellness shows up in classrooms and labs, whether through hands-on learning, research or even exploring poetry and literature. Each story in this issue of Our Tennessee reminds us that caring for ourselves and others provides the heart of the UT spirit.
Wellness takes practice and persistence, and it goes far beyond individual routines. True well-being is reflected in how we live, support one another and work together to build a stronger Tennessee.
