UT System President Randy Boyd meets with student leaders at UT Martin.

If you want to serve the people of Tennessee, there is no better place than the University of Tennessee. Public service is at the heart of what makes us a dynamic force for good across our great state.

As the UT System, we are not only educators, researchers and innovators, but also a vital resource for Tennesseans in every corner of our state. From health care and agricultural services to economic development, educational outreach, and pioneering research, our mission of service extends far beyond the boundaries of our campuses.

At its core, public service is about understanding and meeting the needs of those around us. It means recognizing that our work has the potential to change lives—not only in the classrooms or labs but in our communities, our cities, our state and even our world. Public service strengthens our connections and keeps us grounded in our purpose: to serve the people of Tennessee.

Like the thousands of my colleagues, it’s the honor of my life to serve at my alma mater. I am deeply grateful for our students, faculty, staff and alumni who also dedicate themselves to this mission every day. Their commitment to making a difference reaffirms our belief that education should be a force for transformation. Whether through health care initiatives in underserved areas, agricultural innovations that support our farmers, or community programs that lift families and inspire young minds, UT’s contributions are profound.

We’re actively shaping the greatest decade in UT history. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier and more prosperous Tennessee, united by a shared commitment to public service.
