Bo Roberts
Do you see these values represented in your life? If so, how?
Many of my fellow alumni are first-generation graduates; I try to show my appreciation by offering others a chance to succeed.

Roger Thackston
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
I see UT all across Tennessee, east to west and north to south. I see Tennesseans expecting UT to provide answers, research-based, that will help them make a difference in their lives. I see UT providing opportunities for young people, adults and seniors to change or try things that not only can be profitable but satisfying.

Kimbrough Dunlap
How do you see these values shown day-to-day by the university or alumni?
The University of Tennessee does not ignore or forget the alumni. It engages each and every one of us in various ways and methods. If not, then you wouldn’t be reading this today.

Cindy Brasher
How do you see these values shown day-to-day by the university or alumni?
UT alumni are everywhere and are doing bold and impactful things. I have seen this in coworkers and friends, online in the news and around my community. Our community is struggling right now as they are dealing with the pandemic and so many dividing factors. UT alumni have stepped up to heal, to build, to grow, to share and to open our eyes to opportunities around us.

Brian Winbigler
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
Be One UT makes it easy to explain what UT stands for, what we do and how we do it. The values foster a deeper sense of pride in the university, its mission and my connection to and role in promoting the values. I see one of the most important values being united and connected… The U really brings all the other values together to truly enact positive change on a grand scale.

Mike Griffin
How do you see these values shown day-to-day by the university or alumni?
I’ve seen these values exemplified all across the university system through my work at UTC and service on the UT Board of Governors. They are evident at all levels including administration, faculty, students and alumni.

Jennifer Stanley
Do you see these values represented in your life?
Yes, they are similar to how my family guides our own decisions. They inform, too, where our charitable giving and volunteer time is directed.

Betty Whaley
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
As an active member of the University of Chattanooga at the time of the merger in 1969-70, I was concerned how we would be welcomed into the fold. My experience then and continuing now is that we continue to be an important part of the UT System.

Jake Bynum
Do you see these values represented in your life?
The values established in Be One UT are those values that I strive to live out every day. The last two years created opportunities for each of us to look introspectively at how we can be and do better. Being bold, trusted and visionary have always been valued characteristics. However, now striving to embrace diversity, to be more nimble and to stay connected are even more crucial than ever before.

Emily Capadalis Love
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
The Be One UT values mirror what I learned as a child growing up in a single-mom household. Experiences, knowledge, honesty, communication, being positive and leading by example were expectations that were non-negotiable.

Jay Dale
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
That, although each campus takes pride in its own individual hometown campus, the UT System is a family of campuses that can share resources to add value to students and alumni.

Ron Kirkland
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
The Be One UT values are laudable goals for all of us to live by when we interact with our fellow man. The value of our UT System alumni, particularly in advocacy with our state legislature, should not be underestimated.

Terry Begley
What do the Be One UT values mean to you?
They mean everything to me. Core university values help you ensure each of the employees from top leadership to entry level are working towards the same common goal and share a greater purpose. They are critical to creating long-term success while providing a motivating place to work. They are the clearly stated principles about the university’s vision, mission and values.
