A campus metamorphosis has begun at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga: a new library emerges near the spot where a cherished landmark was carefully dismantled. The last vestige of Chamberlain Field, South Stadium, is gone but certainly not forgotten.
“Seeing Chamberlain Field come down is bittersweet for all of us at UTC. Our plan to salvage as many materials as possible for inclusion in the new Chamberlain Pavilion is a fitting memorial to such an important campus landmark. It will give Chamberlain new life on our campus,” said Chuck Cantrell, UTC associate vice chancellor for communication and marketing.
Construction on the Chamberlain Pavilion is to begin this spring.
