Trying to quit smoking? You guessed it – there’s an app for that. Researchers in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the UT Health Science Center created the Quit Forever App to help smokers kick the habit. The app comes with step-by-step instructions and explains how to deal with tension, take Food and Drug Administration-approved smoking-cessation medicines and move past triggers. Karen Johnson, professor and interim chair of the department, says the app offers the methods she and fellow smoking-cessation experts know work in a tool that’s accessible and easy to use. The Quit Forever App is available through the iTunes store and on Facebook.
