Dental health is important for everyone, and the Department of Dental Hygiene at UT Health Science Center is encouraging children to start good habits early in life. Through the Urban Smiles Initiative, the department is distributing “Project Choppers” coloring books to children at schools and Head Start programs in the Memphis area. Urban Smiles is a mobile dental hygiene service administered by students and faculty for underserved youth. Children receive the coloring books at dental visits. The Assisi Foundation of Memphis funded production of the books.
