Loughry Chairs UT Foundation

UT Trustee Andrea J. Loughry of Murfreesboro is the new chair of the board of directors of the UT Foundation Inc.

Loughry, a graduate of UT Martin and UT Knoxville, is former president of Miller-Loughry-Beach Insurance & Services Inc. She has been a member of the UT Board of Trustees since 1999.

“I am excited about the opportunity to continue to serve the university in this new role at a time of cultural change for higher ed foundations,” Loughry said. “Nationwide, private dollars are playing a more important role in the business model of public education.”

Loughry also serves on the board of directors for the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges based in Washington, D.C.

She replaces James A. Haslam II as head of the 15-member UTFI Board.

The foundation supports the university by seeking, receiving, and administering private funds to support programs beyond the scope of the university’s general budget. The UTFI, established in 2001, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
