New UTC Chancellor Steve Angle welcomes the appointments of Jerald Ainsworth as provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and David Blackburn as vice chancellor and director of athletics. Ainsworth is the former dean of the UTC Graduate School. Blackburn, former senior associate athletic director at UT Knoxville, hired Will Wade as men’s basketball head coach and Jim Foster as women’s basketball head coach.
UTC in the Top 25
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has been named a top 25 SuperScholar’s Smart Choice for its online engineering management degrees. UTC, at No. 22, joins Duke, Purdue, University of Southern California and Stanford on the list. The university graduated 31 students from the program and has 100 currently in the program. Sixty percent are fully online students.

Chattanooga is a great place to live and work. UT Chattanooga is being recognized for its role in the community’s success. The university was named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction. Of the 5,000 colleges and universities in the U.S., only 100 are selected for this honor—a celebration of UTC’s commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.
National Honor
UT Chattanooga’s Debbie Ingram has been named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow by the American Physical Therapy Association. The APTA has nearly 85,000 physical therapy members, and the award is the highest honor among membership categories. Ingram, UC Foundation Professor and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, joined UTC in 1990.
