World Percussion Competition Champions

The UT Martin Percussion Ensemble won the Percussive Arts Society’s International World Percussion Competition in the university showcase category for the first time in school history. The ensemble performed at the society’s international convention Nov. 10 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Keith Carver, executive assistant to the president of the UT System since Jan. 1, 2011, was voted on Oct. 14 by the UT Board of Trustees to become the 10th chancellor of UT Martin. Carver officially began his duties Jan. 3.

UT Martin officially opened a new academic space and football press box adjacent to Hardy M. Graham Stadium with a ribbon-cutting Sept. 17. The new 20,000-square-foot facility includes locker rooms, classroom and game-management space, a renovated press box and the Champion’s Club and Chancellor’s Box areas for entertaining game-day guests.

Training Manufacturing Engineers

UT Martin is set to launch the state’s first and only training program for manufacturing engineers in the fall 2017 semester. The new engineering concentration is designed with input from regional manufacturers and will help fill a nationwide demand for manufacturing engineers.
