By fate, the grandsons of UT football greats, the late Buddy Lyons (Knoxville ’53) and Hank Lauricella (Knoxville ’52), met for the first time in Dallas during a Southern Methodist University football game. Greg Lyons, left, and Stephen McStravick (Knoxville ’14), proudly possess the team jerseys and other memorabilia of their grandfathers. Lyons was the starting left guard of the 1951 national championship team. Lauricella earned the nickname “Mr. Everything” for leading the team in passing, rushing, total offense and punting.

Multiple UT Martin graduating classes were represented when the Moores and Goldens, all from Arlington, Tenn., attended the Legacy Luncheon in the Paul Meek Library before the start of fall classes. Legacy Scholarships are awarded to students who are sons or daughters of UT Martin alumni. Funding for the scholarships comes from the Kathleen Elam estate and the UT Martin Campus Fund.
