UT’s Institute for Public Service had an economic impact of more than $872 million in Tennessee last year, helping local governments and industries increase revenue, win contracts, and reduce operating costs.
In fiscal 2009, IPS answered more than 24,000 requests for assistance from government, law enforcement, and business officials. IPS helped employers by providing training and consultation to create or retain more than 10,900 jobs for Tennesseans, and nearly 23,000 individuals participated in IPS training in 2009.
The statewide UT Institute for Public Service provides university expertise for communities and workplaces by consulting daily with government, law enforcement, and industry leaders. For nearly 60 years, IPS agencies have led the university’s outreach efforts, extending the university to all communities in the state.
