- UT Knoxville announced the recipients of the Distinguished Tennessean Scholarship, a new award for first-year, in-state students. One student is selected from each of Tennessee’s 95 counties.

Military
UT Knoxville announced its partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation and the establishment of the new Vols of Honor scholarship endowment to provide academic scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled service members and first responders, including police, fire, EMTs and paramedics.
Faculty Highlights
- During the next five years, UT Knoxville committed $50 million to recruit 44 top-tier research faculty members across multiple disciplines— the largest faculty hiring initiative in recent UT history.
- The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded prestigious fellowships to three faculty members from UT Knoxville’s College of Arts and Sciences. UTK is one of just two universities to receive three NEH fellowships in 2023, a reflection of the high quality of work being conducted in the humanities.
- Seven faculty members from UT Knoxville were recognized on Clarivate’s 2022 list of Highly Cited Researchers. The annual list highlights influential science and engineering researchers who have been highly cited.
