In The Spring 2023 Issue

Question. Examine. Discover.

Every day researchers across the UT System seek to answer questions, uncover new truths or learn about the past to improve the future. We’re helping people or investigating problems for corporations. As we work in our laboratories and classrooms, we seek to impact lives across Tennessee and the world. We share just a few ways in which we do so in this issue.

Read about UT Knoxville’s research for Eastman Chemical or how a UT Health Science Center professor works to improve cardiovascular health even for those who live far beyond Memphis. Then there’s the stories of how a UT Institute of Agriculture professor helped rural families create businesses through orchards while another UT Institute Agriculture professor teamed with Jack Daniel Distillery to grow trees.

A UTC professor looks to the past and how physicians once used face and palm readings as part of their medical practices. A UT Martin alumna works to solve the riddles of cancer while a UT Southern assistant professor researches and works to stop human trafficking. Check out these and other stories of UT impacting the state and beyond throughout this issue.

As we announced in our Winter 2023 issue, UT is working to solve Grand Challenges in the state of Tennessee. In each issue, we’ll continue to share our work through stories. Continue to follow along and look for the icons below that denote a Grand Challenge story.
